A Series of Steps

The less trodden path; in a day when automated lifts can haul us up heights with no more effort than the push of a button, stairs have been relegated to use only in emergencies or when an elevator has become too crowded. Though I do not advocate against technological advance in some nostalgia for the 'older, simpler times' I have come to find an otherwise unnoticed allure to the dimly fluorescent or incandescent lit staircases we have come to neglect.

Positively No Admittance

I've come to notice in my wanderings just how private a people we can be: disallowing others entry, securing our things with locks and alarms, preventative barriers, the list seems endless. Are we obsessed with privacy and security? Do we not trust one another that much, or have we given each other a reason not to? It's a curious habit this protection of our things, our property, that which is ours, and not for any others, and so it is something I seek to explore.

deviantID

I am a commercial/editorial photographer working for the University of California, Davis, and I also shoot weddings, receptions and various other events on the side. None of this this is meant to impress however, as my true passion is art.

I went to college as an artist, my medium is photography, and since graduating I have become farther and farther removed from my passion. My professional work has taken precedence in my life, as that's where the money comes from, and I don't even hold the the copyright to the images I shoot professionally. When I realized all this, I decided it was time for that to change.

Here I am.
Much of what I post may be the photography equivalent of ramblings, but these will inspire projects, focus, and creativity, so keep an eye out.
